Bio

A former U.S. Navy JAG Corps officer, Marty White is an active business litigator who has tried multiple cases to verdict, including at least one per year from 2015 to 2019, prior to becoming the firm’s managing partner.  He is the go-to problem-solver for businesses and individuals in the Charlotte metro area in need of a successful, experienced trial lawyer.  Marty works with companies of all sizes, most often in the constructionreal estate, and manufacturing sectors.  He also routinely represents individuals and families in disputes involving wills and trusts.  In addition to his litigation practice, Marty is a certified Superior Court mediator and regularly serves as an arbitrator. Marty became the Firm’s Managing Partner in 2020 after five years of co-chairing the Firm’s Litigation Practice Group.  He is a leader outside the office as well, having recently served as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Charlotte Christian School and President of the Charlotte City Club.  He is currently the President of Myers Park Country Club.

REPRESENTATIVE TRANSACTIONS

  • Lead trial counsel for two charitable foundations in a federal court jury trial, resulting in unanimous verdict in favor of the Firm's clients.
  • Lead trial counsel in landmark case involving unique questions about a municipality's acceptance of a dedication of a public road, resulting in verdict in favor of the Firm's clients.
  • Served as statewide defense counsel for one of the country’s largest manufacturer of building and paper products in multiple individual plaintiff and punitive class action cases where plaintiffs alleged claims grounded in strict liability, negligence, warranty and unfair and deceptive trade practices.
  • Lead counsel in will caveat jury trial resulting in unanimous verdict in favor of the Firm's client setting aside the challenged Will because it was procured as a result of undue influence.
  • Negotiation of numerous Driving Services Contracts and sponsorship agreements for NASCAR drivers and television personalities.
  • Represented clients before all federal and state courts in North Carolina, the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors, the North Carolina Industrial Commission, the North Carolina Building Code Council, and the American Arbitration Association.
